Executive Leadership Update

Joe Glynias Named Chair – The partners of Husch Blackwell elected Joe Glynias to serve as the firm’s next Executive Board Chair, succeeding Chair Catherine Hanaway. Glynias, whose term as Chair began on April 1, joined Husch Blackwell in 2003 and has been with the firm for his entire legal career. He served on the firm’s Executive Board from 2015-2022.   • In addition to Glynias’ appointment, Husch Blackwell elected two partners to the executive board, whose three-year terms begin on April 1, 2024: Jen Dlugosz, who currently serves as the Deputy Managing Partner of Husch Blackwell’s virtual office, The Link, and Julie Miceli, who is the Chicago Office Managing Partner.

Firm Accolades

Husch Blackwell was one of only eight elite firms considered for the 2023 Best Law Firm of the Year award by The American Lawyer. The award recognizes firms that had an exceptional year across service offerings, netting big wins and demonstrating strong financial performance, but also showing commitment to other important areas of focus, such as pro bono, diversity, or innovation in how legal services are delivered.

Client Successes

Our talented teams continue to move client goals forward. Among their recent accomplishments, they:

  • Represented American Airlines in the negotiation of purchase agreements for 85 of Airbus’s A321neo family aircraft and 85 of Boeing’s 737 MAX 10 aircraft – Husch Blackwell also negotiated various agreements on behalf of American Airlines with CFM International for LEAP 1-B engines to power the Boeing 737 MAX 8 and MAX 10 fleets.   • Assisted Swift Current in bringing a 260 MW solar project located in Southeast Texas online – Husch Blackwell served as developer’s counsel to Swift Current through the purchase, development, debt financing, and funding, in the areas of real estate, environmental and permitting, and electric regulatory, among others.   • Secured a victory before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on behalf of Sotera Wireless – Husch Blackwell had previously knocked out all disputed patent claims—175 in total—across eight related inter partes review (IPR) petitions before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the United States Patent and Trademark Office, resulting in a precedential PTAB decision that provides a strategy for petitioners to avoid discretionary denial of IPR under the Fintiv factors.   • Launched a client-driven artificial intelligence practice group – Husch Blackwell’s newest practice is a cross-practice group of attorneys focused on representing clients in AI-related matters, including advising on new legal and regulatory frameworks governing AI and its risks. Learn more.

HB Footprint

  • The St. Louis office—designed by architecture firm Partners by Design—has earned recognition in Interior Design’s 18th annual Best of Year Awards in the category of small corporate office.
  • Our Omaha office relocated in November and was featured recently in Omaha Magazine.
  • The Jefferson City office relocated in October 2023 and remained downtown.
