I already know and have worked personally with many of you, but for those who do not know me, let me introduce myself: I am Joe Glynias, a partner in our St. Louis office with our Labor & Employment practice group and also Husch Blackwell’s new Chair.

Like a lot of you, I began my legal career here at Husch Blackwell, first coming on board as a summer associate after my first year of law school in May 2001. I am sure many of our alumni remember the eager excitement of early summer days at the firm as well as I do, along with the thrill of getting a permanent offer after graduation. It is a connection that always makes me extra excited to welcome a new class of summer associates—and this year we have 99 confirmed to start on May 20.

As a young associate, I quickly grew to love Husch Blackwell’s uncommon culture and its welcoming community, and I have been here ever since. From 2015 through 2022, I also had the privilege of serving on Husch Blackwell’s executive board.

As firm Chair, I look forward to continuing our history of bold decisions, our business-minded operations, and our people-first culture. I am especially excited about serving alongside Jamie Lawless, our new chief executive, as we chart our course forward in this new era of firm history. My role—and the executive board’s role—is to support Jamie and make sure she, the firm, and our clients succeed, and I cannot wait to see what we can all do together.

We are deeply fortunate to be working from a position of strength and success, thanks to the extraordinary work of our prior Chair Catherine Hanaway, our prior Chief Executive Paul Eberle, and our incredible colleagues, both past and present. Each and every one of you has helped make Husch Blackwell into the firm it is today, and I know we have an even stronger future ahead of us.

Enjoy the rest of the Spring newsletter!
