Chief Executive Elect Jamie Lawless

Allow me to introduce myself: my name is Jamie Lawless, and I joined the firm in July as our chief executive elect, bringing 25-plus years of experience in professional services, including with other Am Law firms. I’ll be moving into the chief executive role after Paul Eberle’s departure on February 1, 2024.
As a businessperson, it’s incredibly exciting to have the opportunity to serve as Husch Blackwell’s chief executive. It’s so rare for a law firm to be led by a businessperson, and I think it’s a sign of our bold strategy to run this firm like a business. We operate in the same business-minded way that our clients do, which gives us a huge advantage in the marketplace. Our strategic business plan serves as our road map, letting attorneys focus on delivering excellent legal representation to clients.
I’m even more excited about Husch Blackwell’s people-first culture—the way the firm serves our clients and treats our people aligns with my own personal and professional commitment to serving clients and my teams. I’ve spent my first couple months learning about how Husch Blackwell provides exceptional service, how much we care about each other, and how truly uncommon the firm is within the legal industry. I’m looking forward to getting to know both our current attorneys and business professionals on a personal level, as well as our alumni community.
With my home base in Tampa, I’ve joined the firm as a member of The Link, our virtual office. The Link is a great example of how Husch Blackwell thinks and acts differently than most law firms, and it’s a unique opportunity for me to serve as a true citizen of the firm. Being a Link member means that I can be at any office location where I’m needed, when I’m needed. I’ve already visited fifteen of our offices, with the aim of traveling to each by the end of November—and everywhere I go, I’m amazed by the warm welcome I receive and the vast amount of talent I meet. As you all know, this is truly an exceptional, bold, uncommon firm, and I know that all of our alumni have helped make it so.
In the coming months, I’m looking forward to learning even more about our strategy and culture, and I’m excited to build on the strong success the firm has enjoyed under Paul’s leadership—the strong success every one of you has contributed to. Husch Blackwell is in an excellent position to move to the next level, and I know we have even more exciting growth and innovation in our future.
