HB In-House
In just its second year, HB In-House—the first-of-its-kind professional development program at Husch Blackwell—continues to make waves in the legal industry, earning national recognition and accolades for its innovative approach to attorney training and career development.
Launched in collaboration with clients who serve as instructors and coaches, HB In-House is designed to provide attorneys with an immersive understanding of in-house legal roles, strengthen client service, and open new career pathways. The program’s focus on real-world skills and mentorship has already helped place lawyers at leading companies such as Energizer, Leidos, and UL Solutions.
The program’s impact is best illustrated by the success of its alumni. Ryan Holland, now counsel at UL Solutions, credits HB In-House with helping him achieve his career goals and forging lasting professional relationships:
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to be involved in [HB In-House], and as I progress through my in-house career, Husch Blackwell will always be top of mind when looking at outside counsel,” Holland shared in a recent interview with Corporate Counsel.
Reflecting on the program’s rapid growth and impact, Joe Glynias, Chair of Husch Blackwell and a key architect of HB In-House, shared:
“HB In-House was born out of a desire to truly partner with our clients and invest in our attorneys’ futures. By demystifying the in-house world and providing hands-on training, we’re building a bridge between private practice and corporate counsel roles. The recognition we’ve received is a testament to the hard work of our team, our clients, and our alumni.”
This year, HB In-House was named a finalist for Best Professional Development Initiative in The American Lawyer’s 2025 Industry Awards—a significant achievement that highlights the firm’s leadership in attorney development. The program was also shortlisted by the Financial Times in the “Innovation in People & Skills” category for the Innovative Lawyers Awards North America 2024.
As HB In-House enters its next chapter, the program remains committed to forward-thinking, collaboration, and empowering attorneys to explore new possibilities in their careers.
