2023 Fall Associates
As the firm continues on its growth trajectory, our fall associate classes grow as well: this year, we welcomed a record 55 new associates from 29 different law schools across the country. This year’s talented fall associates represent 13 different practice groups and have joined 15 Husch Blackwell office locations that stretch from California to Washington, DC.
Our fall associates started on September 11 with a week-long orientation in Milwaukee known as HB Foundations. If you remember back to the early days of your career, you probably recall your transition from law school to legal practice just as vividly as your law school graduation day itself, and the HB Foundations program is designed to make that transition easier for new associates. Business professionals and attorneys introduce the firm’s strategic vision, culture, and organizational structure and discuss topics such as how to thrive in a professional services firm; wellness; and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Of course, there was also ample time to get to know each other and to get to know firm leadership, with a reception at the Milwaukee office and a visit from Chief Executive Elect Jamie Lawless.
Orientation week ended with an intensive practice area “bootcamp” to prepare each associate for their work going forward. Fall associates returned to their offices for their first week of in-person work on September 18, but training opportunities continue: we take a long-term approach to orientation, offering lunch and learn programs throughout the year to help new associates navigate the firm, its technology systems, and its administrative departments.
We hope this brought back memories if you experienced fall orientation as an associate…please join us in welcoming our 2023 fall associate class!
