Bill Hughes
Join us in celebrating the remarkable career of Bill Hughes! A cornerstone of our Milwaukee office, Bill has dedicated his practice to Labor & Employment law as a key member of our Technology, Manufacturing, and Transportation industry team. Bill retired on Wednesday, July 31, and we had the pleasure of chatting with him about his journey and plans.
When did you join Husch Blackwell (or its legacy firm)?
I joined Whyte Hirschboeck S.C. on August 15, 1988. It later became Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek and eventually merged with Husch Blackwell in 2016.
Name an HB mentor who guided your legal career and describe how.
Fred Muth and David Hertel were wonderful mentors. They helped me transition from my career as an Air Force officer and lawyer to private practice. They exuded professionalism and devotion to the firm and to clients.
Do you have a favorite case or work memory from your time at the firm?
The memories I most value are the ones that involved working with other WHD/HB attorneys to achieve success for clients.
What will you enjoy doing in your retirement?
I look forward to spending more time with family and friends and focusing on activities that often took a back seat to client matters.
