Husch Blackwell mourns the passing of Kansas City office-affiliated senior counsel Mary “Molly” Elizabeth (Metz) Kurt on August 19, 2022. She leaves behind her husband of 20 years, John; sons John Patrick (“Jack”), Michael and Thomas; daughter Caroline; 26 nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.

Chief Executive Paul Eberle issued this internal email about Molly:

“It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our friend Molly Kurt on Friday, August 19.

“Molly had been with the firm for 28 years as a member of our Labor & Employment PSC, having led our EEO/Affirmative Action practice for many years. Not merely a talented attorney, Molly was a trusted and true team player who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. All of us were lucky to have Molly as a colleague and her presence at HB will undoubtedly be missed.

“Her dedication as an attorney was perhaps outmatched by her devotion as a wife and mother. Molly and her husband John had four children together—and Molly always impressively balanced her burgeoning career with the duties that came along as a mom to a daughter and three sons.

“To those of you at the firm who worked with Molly regularly, we send our deepest sympathy and full support at this most difficult time. We are keeping you, along with Molly’s family and friends, in our thoughts today.”

Molly’s visitation and funeral mass took place on August 24, at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Chicago.
