Kansas City office alum Patrice Brown was featured in a recent Vanguard article sharing her effort in overseeing the introduction of the second-chance program for people with a criminal record at her employer, trucking company Yellow. Patrice left Husch Blackwell in 2009 and has been with Yellow since 2012, currently serving as their VP of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Congratulations to Madison office alum Jeff Vercauteren on his promotion to Assistant General Counsel, Mature Projects at RWE! Jeff was a partner in our Real Estate, Development, & Construction industry team and left the firm in April 2019 to pursue a career in-house.

Retired St. Louis Partner Gary Feder is running for reelection to the Clayton, Missouri board of alderman on April 4, 2023. More information can be found on his campaign website. Gary is also staying busy teaching classes as an Adjunct Professor at Washington University School of Law for second- and third-year law students. Most recently, he taught “Key Issues in Commercial Real Estate Law” to 23 students, two of which are part of Husch Blackwell’s 2023 summer associate class.

Husch Blackwell welcomed back Lisa Leutkemeyer to our St. Louis office and healthcare team. After leaving the firm in 2016 and serving in-house for two major healthcare organizations, she brings an inside perspective on client needs.

Kansas City office alum McClain Bryant Macklin was featured in The Community Voice for her work in the Kansas City community as well as her new role as Director of Policy and Strategic Initiatives at KC’s Health Forward Foundation.

St. Louis office alum the Honorable Matt Schelp, Judge, United States District Court, Eastern District of Missouri, took part in a recorded panel discussion sharing insights into the role of a judge and his path to the bench.

Congratulations to St. Louis office alum Christian Mullgardt on his new position as Deputy General Counsel at Crest Operations, LLC, supporting the Crest Industries family of companies. Prior to this new role, Christian was in the legal department for several years at Olin Corporation after leaving Husch Blackwell in 2011.

Congratulations to Jefferson City, Missouri office alum Jay Atkins on his new position as Chief of Staff at the Missouri Attorney General's office! Jay left Husch Blackwell in 2017 to take on a role in government affairs and then became General Counsel at the Missouri Attorney General’s Office in 2021.

Kudos to Kansas City office alum Kara Larson on her promotion to VP, Chief Ethics Officer and Assistant General Counsel at Evergy! Kara left the firm in 2006 to join Kansas City Power & Light as Corporate Counsel. KC P&L changed its name to Evergy in 2018.

Springfield, Missouri office alum Ryan DeBoef announced a new endeavor as a partner in Hahn | DeBoef Government Relations. Ryan left Husch Blackwell in 2011 and joined Missouri State University as Legal Counsel, most recently serving as Chief of Staff for the university. In his new role, he will continue to advocate for the university as part of the contract lobbying team.

Kudos to St. Louis office alum Kevin Gunn on being chosen by his peers to chair the SSM Health Foundation Board in 2023! Kevin left HB predecessor firm Blackwell Sanders in 2006 and is currently serving as Executive Director, Regulatory and Political Affairs, Central Region for NextEra Energy Resources.

Congratulations to Deb Feder, Husch Blackwell (Kansas City) class of 2014, on the release of her book, After Hello: How to Build A Book of Business, One Conversation at a Time. Deb explains that building an intentional book of business happens one curious, confident conversation at a time, starting with the first hello. The fulfilling practice attorneys envision for themselves takes off from there.

Congratulations to St. Louis office alum Mila Baumann on her recent promotion to Chief Counsel - Litigation at Cigna! Mila left Husch Blackwell in 2012 and has been climbing the ranks at Express Scripts/Cigna ever since. We truly value our partnership with her and the organization!

Congratulations to Kansas City office alum Joe Thompson for being promoted to Vice President at The Scoular Company. Joe works in the legal department with fellow HB alum Megan Belcher.

St. Louis office alum Jessica Conlon left the firm in 2010 to take on a number of roles in the Human Resources field. She is now an entrepreneur having co-founded Loom Consulting. Loom partners with education leaders to build practical, student-centered strategies so organizations and their workforces can achieve their goals and improve outcomes for students. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Denver office alum Erik Dullea on receiving his Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) Certification through the International Association of Privacy Professionals. Erik left the firm in May 2022 and is serving as an attorney with the United States Department of Defense.

Congratulations to St. Louis alum Joe Skinner on his new role as General Counsel - Labor at Anheuser-Busch! Joe was a boomerang hire who was with our L&E team earlier in his career before leaving for an in-house role at FedEx. He came back to the HB family before leaving in April 2022.
